Children’s Book About Disabled Dog by Annie Streit

Scooter and His Scoot Scoot is a new children's book about a disabled dog who uses a dog cart. Through Annie Streit's delightful tale, Scooter shows the world that it's what's inside that really counts, rather than one's outward appearance.

Loving Life

Scooter gets around in life on his "scoot scoot" (dog wheelchair) because Scooter was born "different." From the book,

"He has four legs like all of his friends,

But two of them don't work -- the ones on his back end."

But that doesn't slow the spunky dog down. He scoots around on his dog wheelchair, taking the world by storm!

Inside Scoop

Author Annie Streit

Author Annie Streit

The heart of this inspiring story springs from a place of knowing for the author. Annie had a life-changing accident back in 2005 and has been confined to a wheelchair ever since. Annie writes,

"This story focuses on understanding and accepting differences in one another stemming from my own experiences."

Annie is an advocate for those dealing with disabilities. She shares her message by doing readings and book signings about Scooter in many elementary school classrooms and bookstores.

Annie also shares her experience of living life in a wheelchair and overcoming obstacles. Giving children the story of Scooter helps them cultivate compassion. Once those seeds are sewn, children can deal with differences with a greater sense of understanding.
